How to Get the Manor Key in Steal An Egg (Phantom Express to Forgotten Town)

TL;DR, bestie

The Manor Key is a random fishing drop in a hidden pool under Forgotten Town. Here’s the route: finish Echo’s Memories → get the Haunted Rod and clear the Ghost Fisherman’s challenge for a Phantom Express Ticket → ride the train (ticket equipped in your hand) to Forgotten Town → walk left to the green pond and step into the whirlpool → fish around Gus until the key drops → exit through the green sewer pipe and use the key on the manor. There’s no published drop rate.

Halloween Part 2 landed on 24 October, and the Abandoned Manor finally has a way in. The catch is that the key is three quests deep and then down a whirlpool. Here’s every step, plus the mistakes that waste the most time.

Step by step

1. Finish Echo’s Memories

Find Echo the ghost dog by the witch-hat house and return his four keepsakes: Mr. Squeaky (rabbit toy, near the pumpkin altar), the Chewed Bone (swamp riverbank), the Old Collar (across the train tracks by a big tree) and the Old Photograph (behind the pumpkins left of the Abandoned Manor gate). If you did this in Part 1, skip to step 4.

2–3. Get the rod and the ticket

Echo leads you to the Ghost Fisherman at the swamp pier. He hands over the Haunted Rod and a short underwater challenge where you steer around sea mines. Reach the chest at the end and it gives you the Phantom Express Ticket. The rod alone won’t get you on the train.

4. Ride the Phantom Express

Trains come about every half-hour (around :00 and :30). Hold the ticket in your hand. If it’s sitting in your backpack, you won’t be allowed on. Missed it? Wait for the next one.

5. Find the green whirlpool

From the Forgotten Town arrival platform, walk left along the water until it turns green and starts swirling. Walk straight into the whirlpool. It takes you to an underground pool where an NPC called Gus is waiting. He’s the one who lost the key.

6. Fish until the key drops

Equip the Haunted Rod and keep casting around Gus. The key is a random drop:

  • No official drop rate, and no confirmed pity counter.
  • Empty casts are normal. You’re in the right place.
  • The pool also gives Candy Corn and eggs, so the time isn’t wasted.

7. Use the key

Walk into the green sewer pipe in the underground area to come out by the Abandoned Manor. Use the lock prompt (E on PC). Walkthroughs differ on whether the prompt is on the outer gate or a chained door at the top of the steps, so use whichever your server shows. Fan guides report that the door stays open on your account once unlocked.

Common mistakes

MistakeFix
Fishing at the normal Halloween spawn shorelineThe key only comes from Gus’s hidden pool
Ticket in the backpackEquip it in your hand before boarding
Waiting at the boss portal with the keyThat’s the separate Pumpkin King portal. The key doesn’t open it
Giving up after a few castsIt’s random. Keep going
Skipping Echo’s questYou can’t. The ticket comes from the end of that chain

What’s behind the door?

Upstairs is a room with four labeled pedestals: the two-player Cursed Monarch fusion. It needs two Eternal Ghost Fish and two Divine Voidseer Pumpkins between two players. If you’re chasing it, start collecting the pets while you fish. The Voidseer is the slow part (see my Voidseer Pumpkin guide).

Kiko’s take: The Manor Key is pure patience. Set yourself up in Gus’s pool with a drink and a playlist and just keep casting. You’re earning Candy Corn either way, so it’s lowkey one of the better farms in the event. Very dial-up energy: you’ll get there, it just takes a while.

Scam check

No drop rate has been published. If a video says “the Manor Key is 2%”, ask where that number came from. There are no Steal An Egg codes for the key, and nobody can “give” you one through a website. Auto-fishing scripts are exploits and can get you banned.
