Vehicles in Brookhaven: Speed Limits, Free Tuning and Hidden Controls
TL;DR, bestie
- Brookhaven vehicles cover everything from bikes and horses to boats, helicopters and jets. They’re split into street, air and seasonal vehicles.
- Spawning a car is free. Some vehicles, like the jets and helicopters, need Premium or another gamepass.
- Speed limits: street vehicles top out at 55 for free, 100 with Vehicle Upgrade and 200 with Speed Unlocked. Small vehicles go 25, 40 and 50.
- Free extras include drift and suspension tuning, headlights (V), hazards (G), the horn (F) and Unstuck (H). Wraps, underglow and fancy horns need Vehicle Customization.

Half of Brookhaven happens in a vehicle: school runs, police chases, getaway cars and that one player doing donuts in the town square for 40 minutes. This page covers how vehicles work, what’s free, what the gamepasses actually change and the controls almost nobody knows about.

How it works
Spawning
Open the vehicle menu, pick a category and choose your ride. It spawns next to you. You can spawn one vehicle at a time in public servers, while VIP lets you have two out at once. Driving into someone’s garage works too. If you’re on a small vehicle near your house, a garage button shows up next to Home Cams.
Street, air and seasonal
Street covers cars, motorcycles, bikes, horses and boats, and it’s where most of the free choice is. Air vehicles, like helicopters and jets, need Premium. Seasonal vehicles show up during events and can disappear again afterward.
Speed limits
| Vehicle type | Free | Vehicle Upgrade | Speed Unlocked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street vehicles | 55 | 100 | 200 |
| Small vehicles | 25 | 40 | 50 |
Speed Unlocked also adds Turbo stages 1 to 3 for street vehicles. A separate Boost upgrade gives a short burst past your top speed on Left Shift.
Customization
What’s free:

- Drift physics slider and suspension height tuning
- Paint color on small vehicles
- Basic wheel styles on cars and motorcycles
- Wheelies on motorcycles
- Siren controls on emergency vehicles
- Naming horses and changing the name color
What needs Vehicle Customization: wraps, underglow, wheel loss (yes, you can pop wheels off on purpose), fire and smoke effects, special horns and paint color on street vehicles. Music in vehicles needs the Music pass. Horses get extra coat, mane and saddle colors, plus a full gallop, with the horse upgrade.

Step by step: your first proper drive
- Spawn a free street car from the vehicle menu.
- Press V for headlights if it’s night, and use G for hazards when you park somewhere silly.
- Open the tuning menu and try the drift slider. Default is 1.0, and you can go as low as 0.1 or as high as 1.5.
- Adjust the suspension for that lowrider look.
- If you flip or wedge yourself into a building, press H to unstuck.
- Park it in your garage, and your house’s garage door control will open it for you.
Tips
- The drift slider is free and changes the feel of every car. Try it before you assume you need a speed pass.
- For police roleplay, emergency vehicles have a free siren menu with different light patterns and sounds.
- Horses have gaits: walk, trot and canter are free, and gallop needs the horse upgrade.
- If you only want to look cool, Vehicle Customization does more for you than speed passes. My gamepass ranking goes through the trade-offs.
Common mistakes
- Buying Speed Unlocked and then never leaving the town center, where you can’t go fast anyway.
- Forgetting H exists and resetting your whole character after getting stuck.
- Expecting seasonal vehicles to stay forever.
- Trusting price numbers from old videos. Brookhaven’s gamepass prices get tested and changed, so check the in-game store.
Kiko’s take: Unpopular opinion: the free drift slider is the best vehicle feature in Brookhaven. I spent an embarrassing amount of time tuning a free car until it slid perfectly around the roundabout. If you do buy one vehicle pass, I’d pick the looks over the speed, because a Brookhaven street is basically a parking lot with extra steps.
