Best Tablets for Playing Roblox (2026): What I’d Actually Buy and What I’d Skip

TL;DR, bestie

If a tablet is mainly for Roblox, my pick is the Apple iPad 11-inch (A16, 128GB). It’s well above Roblox’s minimums, the 128GB of storage leaves room for updates, and it was sold and shipped by Amazon.com when I checked on 4 November 2026. For Android, look at a recent Samsung Galaxy Tab A with at least 4GB of RAM, but check you’re buying it new. What I’d skip: no-name “kids tablets” that don’t list their specs, “like new” used listings, and anything that only just meets the minimums. Roblox’s own support page says devices that technically qualify “will likely lag.”

Heads up: the Amazon links below are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. How I pick (and what I never link).

Scam check

No tablet comes “with free Robux” or “Roblox Premium pre-installed”. If a listing or a seller promises that, skip it. Robux only comes from Roblox or an official gift card, and you redeem gift cards at roblox.com/redeem. Never type your Roblox password into a “setup helper” app.

Every holiday season, the same question lands in my inbox: “Which tablet should I get my kid for Roblox?” Honestly, most “best tablet” lists are just spec sheets with a coupon attached. So this one starts with Roblox’s actual requirements, then gives you the one tablet I’d buy, the Android route and the stuff I’d avoid, even when it looks like a bargain.

What Roblox actually needs on a tablet

Fact: Roblox’s own support page lists these minimums:

PlatformRoblox’s minimum
iPadiPadOS 14 or newer. The oldest supported iPads are the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and iPad (5th generation)
Android tabletAndroid 8.0 or newer, with OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics support
Amazon Fire tabletFire 7 (9th gen), Fire HD 8 (8th gen), Fire HD 10 (9th gen), Fire Max 11 (13th gen) or newer
Internet4 to 8 Mb/s, and Wi-Fi is better than mobile data

Here’s the line in that page I wish every parent read. Roblox says it can’t be certain every Android device “will run optimally” even when it meets the requirements. Some devices get a warning that they may not be powerful enough, and games will “likely lag a little (or a lot).”

My take: the minimum is the point where Roblox stops refusing to open. It isn’t the point where Brookhaven with 40 people in one server feels good. Buy above the minimum, not at it.

My pick: Apple iPad 11-inch (A16)

The Apple iPad 11-inch with the A16 chip (128GB, Wi-Fi) is the one I’d buy for a Roblox player.

Why I like it:

  • It’s far above the minimums. Roblox supports iPads going back to the iPad Air 2. This is several generations newer, so it should keep getting app updates for years.
  • 128GB of storage as standard. Roblox games, screenshots and every other app add up fast, and running out of storage halfway through an update is the most annoying tech problem in the world.
  • It’s sold by Amazon itself. When I checked the listing on 4 November 2026, it was shipped and sold by Amazon.com, not a random third-party seller.
  • Parental controls are built in. Apple’s Screen Time works alongside Roblox’s own parental controls and spending limits.

The catch: it isn’t cheap, and it has no headphone jack. Wired headphones need a USB-C adapter, so Bluetooth headphones are the easier option. Also skip the cellular version for Roblox. Roblox itself says to use Wi-Fi rather than mobile data for a stable connection.

Who it’s for: a kid (or adult, no judgment) who plays most days and will use the tablet for school too.

The Android route: a Samsung Galaxy Tab A

If your family is on Android, I’d look at Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A line. Their spec sheets actually tell you the RAM, chip and Android version, so you can check them against Roblox’s list. The Galaxy Tab A9+ listing I checked shows 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, or 8GB with 128GB, a 90Hz 11-inch screen and a microSD slot for more storage.

Why I’m not linking one today: when I checked the Tab A9+ listing on 4 November 2026, the main offer was “Used: Like New”, not new, and its newer sibling, the Galaxy Tab A11+, was showing up next to it. I only link listings I’ve checked properly, so for Android, here’s what I’d look for instead:

  • Sold new, by Samsung or Amazon, not “renewed” or “used”.
  • At least 4GB of RAM. More is better if you want Roblox to run alongside a Discord call.
  • At least 64GB of storage, or a microSD slot to add more.
  • A recent Android version. Roblox needs Android 8.0 or newer, and a tablet that gets updates will stay above that line for longer.

Amazon Fire tablets: fine, with caveats

Fire tablets are on Roblox’s supported list, and they’re the budget option a lot of families already own. My honest opinion: if one is already in the house, try Roblox on it before buying anything. But I wouldn’t buy a Fire tablet specifically for Roblox. The supported list starts at the Fire 7 (9th gen), and “supported” just means it runs. For busy servers, more RAM and a faster chip make a real difference.

What I’d skip

  • No-name “kids tablets” from sponsored listings. If the listing doesn’t say which chip it has, how much RAM, or whether the graphics support OpenGL ES 3.0, you can’t check it against Roblox’s requirements. “Android 15!” on the box doesn’t tell you whether it’ll lag.
  • “Used: Like New” and renewed listings bought as gifts. You don’t know the battery health, and the return rules depend on the seller. If you go this route, be fully aware of what you’re buying.
  • Anything with 32GB of storage. Roblox, a few other apps and an update or two will fill it. Then you’re the one deleting photos at 9pm on a school night.
  • “Gaming” tablets with no brand history. Big numbers on a spec sheet mean nothing if the tablet never gets an update.
  • Tablets marketed with “free Robux”. That’s a scam, every time.

Nice extras (only if you want them)

  • A Robux gift card sold by Amazon. If the tablet is a gift, the 1,000 Robux digital gift card was sold by Amazon.com Services when I checked on 4 November 2026 (US customers only). Redeem it at roblox.com/redeem. My gift card guide explains which one I’d give.
  • A case and screen protector. Not exciting, but kids drop things. Buy one made for the exact model.

Kiko’s take: Don’t overthink it: buy above the minimums, buy new and buy from a seller you can return to. For most families, that’s the iPad (A16). It’s not the cheapest option, but it’s the one I’d trust to still run Roblox in a few years. Android families should check the RAM and Android version against Roblox’s list before checkout. And whatever you choose, set up parental controls before you hand it over, not after the first surprise Robux bill. Learned that one from the group chat, not personally. Mostly.
