How to Report and Block Players on Roblox
TL;DR, bestie
- Block: open their profile → three dots → Block. They can’t chat with you directly or add you as a friend.
- Report in a game: Menu (three lines, top left) → Report (shield) → Person → reason → Submit.
- Report a chat: in the chat window, three dots → Report abuse.
- Parents: you can block or report from Parental controls → [child], through their friends list.
Block first if your child feels unsafe, then report. Screenshot anything serious first.

Teaching your kid to block and report is like teaching them to hang up on a prank caller: quick, unembarrassing, and they should never feel bad about doing it. Here’s every way to do it on Roblox, on every screen.

Block vs report: which one?
| Block | Report | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Stops direct chat and friend requests from that user | Sends the behavior to Roblox to review against its rules |
| Who sees it | Only you. They aren’t told | Roblox’s moderation team |
| When to use it | Anyone annoying, rude or making your child uncomfortable | Anything that breaks the rules: bullying, scams, inappropriate content, asking for personal info |
| Do both? | Often, yes. Report, then block |
How to block someone
From their profile (any device)
- Tap their avatar or name to open the profile.
- Select the three dots next to the chat button.
- Select Block and confirm.
In a game: open the Menu or the player list and select the player. Many screens give you Block and Report options straight from there.
As a parent (linked account): Settings → Parental controls → [child] → Friends → Manage, then the three-dot menu next to a friend → Block. Blocked users can’t chat directly with your child or re-add them as a friend without your permission. From 13, teens manage their own blocking.
To see who’s blocked: Settings you manage → Blocked users. You can filter by Blocked by child or Blocked by you.
How to report someone
In a game (Report Abuse)
- Select the Menu (three stacked lines, top left of the screen).
- Select Report (the shield icon).
- Choose to report a Person or the Experience itself.
- Pick the person and the reason from the dropdowns, and add a short description.
- Select Submit.
A chat message
- In the chat window, select the three dots (top right).
- Select Report abuse, then choose the user.
- Follow the steps.
A user outside a game
- Open their profile → three dots → Report.
- Choose a subject and describe what happened.
- Select Submit.
An item (clothing, a game pass, a model)
- On the item page, use the three dots → Report item.

What to put in a report
- What happened, in one or two plain sentences.
- When, roughly.
- Which game, if it was in a game.
Kids often worry about “getting someone in trouble”. Explain that reports are reviewed by Roblox, and that’s exactly what the feature is for.
What counts as “report-worthy”?
| Report it | Probably just block |
|---|---|
| Asking for personal info, photos, or to move to another app | Spamming emotes or following you around |
| Bullying, threats or hate | Trash talk after a round |
| Scams: fake trades, “free Robux” links, phishing | Begging for items |
| Inappropriate avatars, games or items | Someone who’s just annoying |
If you’re unsure, report it. Roblox would rather see it than miss it.
When to go beyond Roblox
If someone asks for photos, personal details, or to meet or move to another app, or threatens your child:
- Screenshot the messages and the username.
- Report and block on Roblox.
- In New Zealand, you can contact Netsafe for online safety help. Contact Police if there’s immediate danger.
- Roblox also has region-specific illegal-content reporting (for example under Australia’s Online Safety Act).
Teaching it to your kid
- Practice once together on a friend or family account, so they know where the buttons are.
- “Block first, explain later”: they never owe anyone a reason.
- No punishment for telling you. That’s how you hear about the serious stuff.
Kiko’s take: Blocking isn’t rude, it’s a boundary. Every kid on Roblox should know the three-dots-block move as well as they know how to jump. Ten minutes of practice now beats any setting you’ll ever toggle. Report the nasty ones, block the annoying ones, and don’t overthink it.
One last tip: if your child is being followed from server to server by someone, leaving and joining a friends-only private server is a quick way to get some peace while the report is reviewed.
FAQ
Does the person know they’ve been blocked?
Roblox doesn’t notify them. They’ll just find they can’t chat with your child directly or add them.
Can a blocked user still be in the same game?
Yes. Blocking stops direct chat and friend requests, not public servers. Use a private server, or leave, if they’re following your child.
Can parents block people for their child?
Yes, with a linked parent account, until the child turns 13.
Should my child report someone who was mean in a game?
If it was bullying, threats or hate, yes. For ordinary trash talk, blocking is usually enough, and they can always leave the server.
What happens after a report?
Roblox reviews it against its Community Standards. Roblox doesn’t usually tell you the outcome.
