Steal An Egg Beginner Guide: Your First Hour Without Getting Robbed Blind
TL;DR, bestie
- The loop: steal an egg → get it home → hatch it → pets earn cash → buy Speed → reach better biomes.
- First hour: hatch your starter, claim the Pet Index (free traps and cash), grab the free Speed gift (like, favorite, join the group), and save $1,000 for the garden upgrade that unlocks the treadmill.
- Speed is everything. Every biome gate shows a recommended Speed. Lake is about 900 and Desert about 10,000. Don’t go in under-geared.
- Controls: WASD to move, Space to jump, E to pick up an egg.
- No codes exist for Steal An Egg, so ignore “code” videos.

Steal An Egg is a seven-player Roblox tycoon by and Collect Rare Pets. It’s part heist and part hatchery: guarded nests full of eggs, a garden at home, and six other players who’d love to bonk you on the way back. Your first hour decides how fast everything else goes. Here’s how to spend it so you don’t get robbed blind.

How Steal An Egg works
| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| 1. Steal | Grab an egg from a biome’s nest (or from another player) |
| 2. Return | Run it back to your garden before a guard or player hits you |
| 3. Hatch | Eggs hatch in your garden, even while you’re offline |
| 4. Earn | Pets in pens earn money every second |
| 5. Upgrade | Spend cash on pens, treadmill tiers and trails |
| 6. Explore | More Speed opens harder biomes with better eggs |
Your first hour, step by step
- Hatch your starter egg. Put it in the garden, then place the pet in a pen so it starts earning. A Dog is a common starter. It doesn’t earn much, but it gets things moving.
- Open the Pet Index (left side of the screen) and claim every glowing entry. New species give one-time rewards, and your first claims usually include traps.
- Get the free Speed gift. Head to the Free area and do the like, favorite and group tasks. It’s a big one-off Speed boost that makes early runs much easier.
- Steal from the Forest. Watch the egg reset, pick a nest near your base, press E, and run. The Forest guard is a Chicken with a slow chase, which makes it perfect practice.
- Save $1,000 for the garden upgrade that unlocks the treadmill. This is the single most important early purchase.
- Train and buy a trail. Stand on the treadmill to raise Speed, and buy the best trail you can afford. Trails multiply your movement speed, so pick the highest multiplier, not the prettiest sparkles.
- Push to the Lake, then the Desert, once your Speed matches each gate.
Early biome gates
| Biome | Recommended Speed | Guard |
|---|---|---|
| Forest | Starter (no gate) | Chicken |
| Lake | ~900 | Swan |
| Desert | ~10,000 | Scorpion |
| Jungle | ~40,000 | Tiger |
| Snow | ~170,000 | Yeti |
| Volcano | ~700,000 | Cerberus |
Figures are community-tested numbers. Heavier eggs slow you down, so aim above the number on the gate, not just on it.
What to spend money on first
| Priority | Why |
|---|---|
| Pen income | It pays for everything else |
| Treadmill unlock ($1,000) | Turns idle time into Speed |
| Index claims | Free traps, cash and Speed |
| Trail multiplier | The cheapest short-term Speed boost |
| Far-biome eggs | Only once your Speed beats the gate |
Rookie mistakes to avoid
- Running to the Desert too early. If your Speed is under the gate, you’ll drop the egg on the way home.
- Skipping Index claims. That’s free stuff sitting there uncollected.
- Buying trails for looks. Check the multiplier.
- Hoarding weak duplicates. Feed three of the same pet into the Fuse machine for a stronger one, or sell them to free up pens.
- Grabbing a huge egg without testing the route. Big eggs are heavy and slow you right down.
Using traps and the bat
Traps (from the Index) stun guards and players who step on them. Drop one behind you when someone’s closing in, but remember you can trip your own trap, so leave yourself a gap. The bat lets you hit players carrying eggs, and they can do exactly the same to you. That’s the “steal” part working in both directions.

Kiko’s take: The treadmill is the whole game. Every hour I spent stealing Forest eggs before buying it was an hour wasted. Get to $1,000, unlock it, buy a decent trail, and the game opens up fast. Also, the Chicken guard is the least threatening security guard in Roblox history, and I love it.
Scam check
Steal An Egg has no codes and no redeem box, so “codes” videos and “free Divine” sites are fake. Never download “auto-steal” scripts or paste anything into your browser. That’s how accounts get stolen or banned. More on spotting these in my free Robux scams guide.
