Steal An Egg Speed Guide: Biome Gates, Training and How Not to Drop Your Egg

TL;DR, bestie

In Steal An Egg, Speed decides everything: every biome has a Speed gate, from 900 for the Lake up to 50 billion for the Enchanted Forest. The gate is the floor, not the target. Eggs slow you down, so a heavy egg needs 10-40% more Speed than the sign says. You raise Speed with the treadmill (unlocked by the $1,000 garden upgrade), trails that multiply it (1.5x up to 20x) and income from your best pets. Neither game pass raises Speed. My rule: train past the gate, test with a light egg, then go heavy.

Scam check

“Infinite Speed” glitch videos and Speed “scripts” are the fastest way to lose your account. Exploits get accounts banned, and downloads that promise them are often malware. Real Speed comes from the treadmill, trails, the free group gift and the official in-game shop.

Every Steal An Egg run has the same tragic ending at least once: you grab a fat egg, the guardian wakes up, and you get bonked three steps from home because you were “technically” fast enough. I’ve compared the biggest Speed guides and gate tables so you don’t have to learn that the hard way. Here’s how Speed works, every biome gate, how egg weight changes things and what I’d train first.

How Speed works (the short version)

  1. Treadmill: stand on it to gain Speed, even while AFK. It unlocks with the $1,000 garden upgrade, and each upgrade tier raises how much Speed you gain per minute.
  2. Trails: these multiply your movement on top of your treadmill Speed. Buy the best multiplier you can afford, not the prettiest sparkles.
  3. Income: your pets earn the cash that pays for treadmill upgrades and trails. Better pets mean faster upgrades.
  4. Free gift: like, favorite and join the group in the Free area for a one-off Speed boost. My beginner guide walks through it.

That’s the loop: steal, hatch, earn, train, repeat.

Every biome Speed gate

Two separate guides list the same gates, so I’m confident in these numbers. The gate is what the sign shows. The safe column is my rule of thumb for carrying a heavy egg out.

#BiomeSpeed gateSafe for a very heavy egg
1ForestNone (starter)–
2Lake900About 1,200
3Desert10,000About 12,000
4Jungle40,000About 50,000
5Snow170,000About 210,000
6Volcano700,000About 840,000
7Abyss Ocean2.5MAbout 3M
8Prehistoric18MAbout 21M
9Cosmic700MAbout 840M
10Cherry Blossom2.5BAbout 3.5B
11Titan Temple7BAbout 8.5B
12Angels & Demons20B (night only)About 24B
13Enchanted Forest50BAbout 60B

Fact check on the numbers: the two guides agree on every gate. They differ slightly on egg-weight targets for Prehistoric and the Enchanted Forest, so I’ve rounded to the higher figure. They also name a couple of guardians differently, which is why I’ve left guardian names out of the table.

Why the gate isn’t enough: egg weight

Carrying an egg slows you down, and heavier eggs slow you more. Heavier eggs also tend to hatch the better pets, which is the cruel joke of this game.

Here’s what that looks like in the Jungle (gate 40,000):

Egg weightSpeed I’d want
Very light41,000
Light42,000
Medium45,000
Heavy48,000
Very heavy50,000

So “I have 40K, I can do Jungle” is true for a feather-light egg, and a trap for a heavy one. Across the biomes, a very heavy egg needs roughly 20-40% more than the gate.

What I’d do: when you first unlock a biome, steal the lightest egg there. If you get home comfortably, step up a weight class. If you get caught, go back to training instead of throwing more attempts at it. Tip: if a guardian catches you outside its own biome, the egg drops where you were caught, not back in the nest, so you can sometimes go back and finish the job. My egg stealing guide has more chase tips.

Trails: the biggest quick win

TrailMultiplier
Gray1.5x
Green2x
Blue2.5x
Purple3x
Golden3.5x
Red4x
Galaxy5x
Secret7x
Eternal10x
Divine14x
Moon Bloom20x

Hot take: trails are the most underrated upgrade in the game. Going from a 2x trail to a 4x trail doubles your movement instantly, while the treadmill takes time. If you’re stuck just short of a gate, check the Trail Shop before you grind another hour. Cash prices change between updates, so read the shop tag.

Treadmill tiers

The treadmill chain goes Base, Celebrity, Hacker, Demonic, Angelic, then a top tier added with Angels & Demons and the Guardian Treadmill from the Enchanted Forest update. Each tier raises how fast you gain Speed. Keep upgrading the level between named tiers so AFK time stays worth it.

My take on AFK training: it’s genuinely the move. Put yourself on your best treadmill with your best trail before you log off for dinner, and let it cook. It’s the closest Roblox gets to leaving a Tamagotchi on the counter and coming back to a grown-up pet.

The biggest jump in the game

Prehistoric (18M) to Cosmic (700M) is almost a 39x jump. That’s where most players stall for days. Don’t brute-force it. By that point you need a strong trail, a late treadmill tier and your best income pets working for you. My best pets by income list helps with the income side.

Do Robux passes raise Speed?

No, and this trips people up. Steal An Egg sells two passes:

  • X2 MONEY (399 Robux): doubles pen income from your pets.
  • X2 GROWTH SPEED (467 Robux): makes eggs hatch twice as fast in your garden.

Neither touches your treadmill or movement. “Growth Speed” means hatch speed, not running speed. There are also Robux Speed packs in the shop, which jump your stat once. My honest take: they’re a shortcut to one biome, not a long-term upgrade, so I wouldn’t buy them before a good trail. Parents, my Steal An Egg safety guide covers spending.

What’s new this week

The Halloween content is wrapping up, Paranoid Pete showed up on Monday 2 November (US time), and a new Alien Biome is listed from Sat 7 Nov: 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT / 3am AEDT (Sun 8 Nov) / 5am NZDT (Sun 8 Nov). Its Speed gate hasn’t been announced. Banking Speed now is the safest prep no matter what the number turns out to be. My Paranoid Pete and Alien Biome post tracks what’s confirmed.

Kiko’s take: Speed in Steal An Egg is simple once it clicks: the gate gets you in, extra Speed gets you out. Buy the best trail you can, keep the treadmill running while you’re away and never trust “just barely enough”. And skip the “infinite Speed glitch” videos. If it sounds too good to be true, it’s a ban speedrun.

How much Speed do you need for each biome in Steal An Egg?

Lake 900, Desert 10K, Jungle 40K, Snow 170K, Volcano 700K, Abyss Ocean 2.5M, Prehistoric 18M, Cosmic 700M, Cherry Blossom 2.5B, Titan Temple 7B, Angels & Demons 20B and Enchanted Forest 50B.

Why do I get caught even though I have enough Speed?

Eggs slow you down. A heavy egg needs up to 20-40% more Speed than the gate. Try a lighter egg first.

What’s the fastest way to get Speed in Steal An Egg?

Buy the best trail you can afford, keep upgrading the treadmill and AFK train on it. Claim the free group Speed gift if you haven’t.
