All 99 Nights Costume Pieces and How to Match a Full Set
TL;DR, bestie
99 Nights in the Forest’s Trick or Treat Part 1 has six costume sets: Astronaut, Dinosaur, Lobster, Mummy, Pirate and Werewolf. Each has four pieces. Pieces drop from purple Costume Boxes, chests, wolves and cultists, and go into a Costume Closet you build at camp. At a candle-lit house at night you get 1 Candy per piece, or 8 for a full matching set. Every piece you’re wearing is used up when you knock, so you need a fresh outfit for each door.
🗓️ Last updated: 1 November 2026 — Trick or Treat costumes have since been followed by the Hedge Maze Refresh, which ends Sat 7 Nov: 2:30am PT / 5:30am ET / 10:30am GMT / 9:30pm AEDT / 11:30pm NZDT
Costumes are the whole engine of this year’s Trick or Treat event. More matching pieces means more Candy, and Candy buys everything in Happy’s shop. Here’s every piece, where they come from and how to get the most out of a full set.

Every costume set and its pieces
| Set | The four pieces |
|---|---|
| Astronaut | Helmet, Suit, Boots, Jetpack |
| Dinosaur | Hood, Body, Tail, Feet |
| Lobster | Head, Body, Claws, Legs |
| Mummy | Head Wraps, Wraps, Leg Wraps, Scarab Brooch |
| Pirate | Hat, Shirt, Boots, Hook |
| Werewolf | Hood, Shirt, Tail, Legs |
The Closet has four slots (hat, shirt, pants and accessory), and you can mix pieces from different sets. Finishing a set plays a little animation. The Pirate set ends with a salute, which is adorable.
Where costume pieces come from
| Source | Notes |
|---|---|
| Purple Costume Boxes | In cabins, ruins and crypts, plus the wishing well and stone castle. One box can hold pieces from several sets |
| Chests | Any chest can roll a piece during the event |
| Wolves | Gray, black and alpha wolves can drop pieces |
| Cultists | The pirate-style cultist reportedly favors Pirate gear |
| Alien mobs | Around the crashed UFO, reportedly a good spot for Astronaut pieces |
| Treats | A lucky Treat at a house can pay out more pieces |
Drops can start on Day 1. The map is randomly generated, so nobody can give you fixed box coordinates. Anyone claiming “the Lobster head is always here” is guessing. There’s no confirmed respawn timer for boxes either.
Pieces don’t carry over between runs. The Closet empties when a new run starts. Candy carries over, and you don’t lose it when you die.
The Costume Closet
- Buy the blueprint at the Crafting Bench and build it for 3 Wood (a Tier 1 bench is enough).
- Once it’s built, every piece you pick up is stored automatically (“added Werewolf Hood to costume closet”).
- Equip outfits from the Closet before you head out for the night.
Build it on Day 1. It’s the cheapest thing in this whole event, and without it you’re juggling pieces by hand.
How costumes turn into Candy
- Find a decorated house and drop a Halloween Candle at its door (any time of day) to light it up. Candles come from chests, cultist drops and cultist events.
- Equip your outfit at the Closet.
- Knock after dark and wait for the resident to decide.
| What you’re wearing | Candy | Extra |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing | 0 | Guaranteed Trick |
| Mismatched pieces | 1 per piece | None |
| 3 pieces, 2 matching | 3 + 1 bonus = 4 | Small luck boost |
| Full four-piece set | 4 + 4 bonus = 8 | “Mega luck”, the only outfit with a shot at rarer Treats |
Every piece you’re wearing is consumed when you knock, Treat or Trick. So the real question isn’t “how many pieces do I have?” It’s “how many full sets can I put together before night falls?”

Getting the most out of a full set
- Sort before dusk. Check the Closet and see which sets are one piece short, then hunt for those pieces in daylight.
- Don’t break a near-full set for a mismatched knock. Four random pieces pay 4 Candy, while those same pieces as a set pay 8.
- Line up two or three lit houses close together so you’re not crossing the map at night. Houses go on cooldown after a visit and reset later in the run.
- Bring your tamed animals or a friend. Wolves still spawn at night.
Costume badges
Happy’s Badge Pack (25 Candy, added 19 October) unlocks ten harder Halloween badges. These are the costume ones:
| Badge | What it needs |
|---|---|
| Costuming | Trick-or-treat in one full matching set (in the base event) |
| Full Costuming | Trick-or-treat in all six full sets before night 99 |
| Triple / Quad Trick or Treating | Knock in a full set three or four times in one night |
| Fancy Dressing (secret) | Wear a specific mixed outfit: reportedly Lobster head, Mummy body, Dinosaur legs and Pirate hook |
If you’re going for Full Costuming, write the six sets on a list and tick each one off after a completed visit. Owning a set doesn’t count. You have to wear it to a door.
Is the Fancy Dressed class worth it for costumes?
Fancy Dressed is this year’s event class. Happy’s shop sells it as “Fancy Dressed Clothes” for 30 Candy, which is about four full-set knocks.
| Level | Perk |
|---|---|
| First | Higher costume-piece drop rate |
| Second | Higher chance of a Treat |
| Third | Extra Candy per knock |
Guides number the levels differently (0–2 or 1–3), but they agree on the order. Leveling up reportedly needs 50 Candy from trick-or-treating and 40 stored costume pieces. It won’t help you in a fight, though.
Kiko’s take: Honestly? Costumes are a puzzle game wearing a survival game’s clothes, and I’m into it. Build the Closet on Day 1 and complete sets rather than collecting singles. If you plan to farm for more than a couple of runs, buy Fancy Dressed early. On the “would I trade my Tamagotchi for it” scale, a full Lobster set is a solid yes.
Scam check
Nobody can “give” you costume pieces or Candy outside the game. Pieces are wiped every run anyway, so “selling” them makes no sense. Ignore “free Candy” sites and Discord DMs. They’re after your account, not your outfit.
FAQ
How many costume sets are there in 99 Nights in the Forest?

When does Trick or Treat Part 1 end?
The official Part 1 listing ends on Sat 24 Oct: 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm BST / 11pm AEDT / 1am NZDT (Sun 25 Oct). The listing window isn’t confirmed as the end of every Halloween reward.
