Adopt Me Beginner Guide: Bucks, Tasks, Eggs and Your First Legendary
TL;DR, bestie
- Earn Bucks by doing your pet’s or baby’s tasks (ailments). That’s capped at 300 Bucks per in-game day, or 500 with a Pet Handler Pro Certificate. Add the Task Board (four daily tasks) and jobs (up to 50 Bucks a day).
- Spend on eggs in the Nursery: Cracked Egg 350, Pet Egg 600, Fairytale Egg 750, Royal Egg 1,450.
- Your first legendary most likely comes from trading up or lucky hatches. A Pet Egg’s legendary chance is 3%.
- Pass the Trade License test before you trade anything valuable.

Welcome to Adopt Me!, where the pets are adorable and the economy is more complex than my 2001 Neopets stock portfolio. Here’s everything you need for your first week: how to earn, what to buy, how to hatch, and how to get your first legendary without getting scammed.

Your first ten minutes
- Pick Baby or Parent. As a parent, you look after a baby and pets. As a baby, you have your own needs. Being a baby with a pet equipped doubles your Bucks, because both of you have needs to fill.
- Check your inventory. You always spawn with a Default Stroller for carrying your pets around.
- Open the Guide. Completing its early achievements gives free stuff, including a Tiny Age Potion.
- Equip your pet and start doing the thought bubbles above its head. Those are its tasks.
How to earn Bucks
| Source | How much | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pet and baby tasks | 10–20 Bucks each (Sleepy 10, Hungry or Thirsty 12, Dirty 15, School, Salon or Bored 20…) | Capped at 300 Bucks per in-game day (500 with a Pet Handler Pro Certificate) |
| Task Board | 25 Bucks each for the first three tasks, plus a daily prize (gift, egg or chest), and a fourth task for 100 Bucks | Resets daily |
| Jobs | 15 Bucks a minute, up to 50 Bucks per in-game day | At the Pizza Shop, Salon, Hospital and School |
| x2 weekends | Double Bucks and a doubled cap | When Adopt Me! runs them |
| Bucks request bonus | 3× Bucks and XP | When a pet asks for a specific item for catch, ride, walk, hungry or thirsty |
Best habit: keep one pet equipped and clear every thought bubble. It’s the main income, and it ages your pet at the same time.
Eggs: what to buy first
Eggs are sold in the Nursery in the middle of Adoption Island.
| Egg | Price | Legendary chance | Tasks to hatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cracked Egg | 350 Bucks | 1.5% | 4 |
| Pet Egg | 600 Bucks | 3% | 5 |
| Fairytale Egg | 750 Bucks | (check in game) | (check in game) |
| Royal Egg | 1,450 Bucks | (check in game) | (check in game) |
Starting out, the Cracked Egg is cheap and quick, and the Pet Egg has twice the legendary odds. The Gumball Machine’s current featured egg changes with updates, so check what’s in it before saving up.

Aging pets (and why it matters)
Every task ages your pet: Newborn → Junior → Pre-Teen → Teen → Post-Teen → Full Grown. Higher rarities take longer, from 25 tasks for a Common to 183 for a Legendary. Each age-up gives a small reward, such as Bucks, food, potions or occasionally an egg. Full Grown pets earn Age-Up Potions through friendship levels, and four of the same Full Grown pet make a Neon.
Don’t forget your Pet Pen next to your house. It ages up to five pets passively, even while you’re offline (just more slowly).
Your first legendary
Honest odds: you probably won’t hatch one in week one. The realistic routes:
- Hatch a lot of Pet Eggs. 3% each.
- Trade up: trade lots of small things for bigger things, slowly.
- Events and the Task Board prize rotation, which sometimes give eggs and gifts.
Trading: the Trade License
Before you can trade ultra-rare or legendary pets, you need the Trade License. Take the short quiz at the Safety Hub on Adoption Island. It gives you three scenarios, and you decide which are scams. It also lets you see your trade history for 30 days and report scammers.
Scam check
Scam check:
- Never “trust trade”. If they say “you give first”, the answer is no.
- Never trade outside the trade window.
- Never trust “values” a stranger shows you.
- Ignore any game or person promising free Adopt Me! pets for your password or Robux.
If the game’s unfair-trade warning pops up, read it.
Useful Robux buys (optional)
You don’t need to spend anything. If you do:
- the Ride-A-Pet and Fly-A-Pet potions make a pet rideable or flyable;
- the Pet Handler Pro Certificate lets you equip two pets and raises the Bucks cap for 30 days;
- Pets Plus is a monthly subscription that includes VIP perks.
Kiko’s take: Week one, keep it simple: one pet equipped, clear every bubble, do the Task Board daily, and save for Pet Eggs. Take the Trade License test before your first trade, and treat anyone who’s “too generous” like a chain letter from 1998. Delete, block, move on. The legendary will come.
