Family Roleplay Ideas for Brookhaven: Plots, Props and Where to Set Them

TL;DR, bestie

  • Start with the Family button (next to Time). Create a family, invite players and pick roles: Parent, Teen, Child, Baby, Grandparent, Adopted or Guardian.
  • Family members get roommate access to each other’s houses automatically, and a tracker shows them on the map.
  • Best set pieces: Daycare & Adoption Center, Grocery Store, Pet Adoption Center, the school and the hospital.
  • Props to grab: Baby Furniture (House Controls), the Baby Car Seat setting, shopping carts and food tools.
  • Ten plot ideas below, from “first day home with the baby” to “the great grocery store disaster”.

Family roleplay is the heart of Brookhaven. It’s what most players are doing when you wander into a random house. But “we’re a family” only lasts about four minutes before someone says “…so what now?” This guide gives you the built-in family tools, the best places to play, and ten plots with a beginning, a middle and a twist.

Good to know:

  • Roles are labels only. Nobody gets special powers.
  • Family members get roommate permissions on each other’s plots and can’t be banned from them while in the same family.
  • Use Hide Invites if strangers keep spamming you with family requests.

Set up the house first

  1. Pick a family-sized house. Most free houses have bedrooms and a kitchen.
  2. House Controls, then Baby Furniture, to add cribs and baby bits.
  3. Lock the doors so the plot doesn’t get crashed mid-scene.
  4. Settings, then Baby Car Seat (blue or pink baby). Every street car now has a car seat in the back and a “Baby on Board” sticker.
  5. Quick Chat has “Be my parent” and “Be my child” buttons. Perfect for younger players who don’t type.

Ten family roleplay plots

1. Adoption day. The kids wait at the Adoption Center. A nervous couple fills in the papers upstairs. Twist: there are twins, and they refuse to be split up.

2. First night home with the baby. Baby crib set up, parents exhausted. Twist: the baby (a player) keeps “escaping” to the kitchen.

3. The great grocery store disaster. A kid gets lost between the bakery and the deli. Twist: they’ve been “working” the checkout the whole time.

4. Getting a pet. A trip to the Pet Adoption Center to choose between a dog and a cat. Twist: the pet needs the Pet Hospital next door before it can come home.

5. Grandparents visit. Someone takes the Grandparent role and has Opinions about the house. Twist: Grandpa was secretly a spy (there’s a Spy job).

6. Birthday party. Balloons, cake from the bakery, party props. Twist: the guest of honor is late because they’re stuck in traffic.

7. Moving house. Pack up and switch to a new house (remember the swap cooldown in public servers). Twist: the new house has a secret room.

8. School morning chaos. Lost backpacks, a late bus, the school run. Twist: it’s actually Saturday.

9. Camping trip. Drive the family out of town with the car seat in the back. Twist: the car breaks down, so someone takes the Repairman job.

10. The surprise sibling. The Teen finds out an Adopted sibling is joining the family. Twist: they already know each other from school.

Keep it fun for everyone

  • Agree on the vibe first: sweet, funny or dramatic.
  • Rotate the Baby role. Nobody wants to be the baby for three hours.
  • Keep it kid-friendly. No “dating” plots with strangers, and leave any roleplay that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Private servers make family RP way calmer. See my private server guide.

Kiko’s take: Family RP is basically the Sims with your friends and no cheat codes. My favorite role is the chaotic Grandparent who arrives with too many casseroles and a suspicious amount of knowledge about the Agency. Pick a twist, commit to it, and the story writes itself.
