MM2 Innocent Tips: How to Stay Alive and Grab the Gun
TL;DR, bestie
- Innocents win if the Murderer is shot, leaves the game, or the timer runs out. Surviving is winning.
- Keep moving rather than hiding in obvious spots, and listen for stab sounds.
- Grab coins early: up to 40 a round (50 with Elite). A full bag gives 900 bonus XP.
- If the Sheriff dies, grab the gun and become the Hero (600 bonus XP for shooting the Murderer). Don’t run into a gun camp.
- Trust nobody walking straight at you.

Innocent is the role you’ll get most in Murder Mystery 2. Up to ten players per round are Innocent, and it’s secretly the most skill-based. Good Innocents survive, rack up coins and sometimes snatch the win as the Hero. Here’s how.

How Innocents win (and earn)
| Way to win | Notes |
|---|---|
| Sheriff or Hero shoots the Murderer | The most common Innocent win |
| Timer runs out with Innocents alive | Survival counts! |
| Murderer leaves the game | A free win |
| XP source | Amount |
|---|---|
| Surviving | 5 XP per second |
| Full coin bag | +900 XP |
| Hero shot on the Murderer | +600 XP |
| Win multiplier | ×1.5 |
The early round: coins and caution
- First 10 seconds: the Murderer doesn’t have a knife yet. It’s the safest coin time, so grab as many as you can.
- After 10 seconds: stop sprinting into groups. Anyone could be the Murderer.
- Spread out. Moving between rooms confuses the Murderer and buys time.
Hiding vs moving
| Strategy | When it works | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Keep moving | Most of the time | You might bump into the Murderer, so check corners |
| Hide in a non-obvious spot | Late in the round, when few players are left | Obvious spots get checked first, and X-Ray finds everyone |
| Stick near the Sheriff (if you know who it is) | Sheriff is alive and alert | The Murderer often goes for the Sheriff, and you’re next to it |
Hiding tips players swear by:
- Pets give away your spot in tight places, so unequip them if you’re hiding.
- Big avatars and tall hair stick out of small hiding spots.
- Radios are a homing beacon. Turn them off.
Listen like a detective
- A stab sound means peek out to see who did it.
- A body but no stab sound? The Murderer may have Ninja (silent stabs). Be extra careful.
- Someone running at you with nothing in their hand could be a Murderer about to pull the knife. Walk away.
- Someone holding a gun might be a Fake Gun Murderer. Watch what they do with it.
Becoming the Hero
When the Sheriff dies, their gun floats where they fell with a green glow. Walk over it to pick it up. You’re now the Hero, with the same gun and the same rules:
- Shooting an Innocent kills you both, so only shoot when you’re sure.
- If the Murderer is camping the gun, don’t run in. Wait for them to move, or let someone else bait them.
- A Hero shot gives +600 XP and counts as an Innocent survival.
Juking: dodging a Murderer up close
If the Murderer is already on you, running in a straight line usually ends badly. “Juking” means changing direction suddenly so a stab or throw misses:
- Zig-zag instead of running straight. Knife throws travel in a line.
- Use corners and doorways to break line of sight, then double back.
- Jump over obstacles where the Murderer has to path around.
- Run towards the Sheriff if you know who it is. The Murderer chasing you into a gun is a win for your team.

Innocent in Disguises and Assassin
- Disguises: everyone looks the same and has a code name, so you can’t spot the Murderer by outfit. Watch who’s following people into rooms, and who isn’t collecting coins.
- Assassin: there are no Innocents. Everyone has a knife and a target, which makes it brilliant practice for dodging throws.
Helping the team
- Describe the Murderer in chat (outfit, hair, colors). It helps the Sheriff.
- But remember: once you’re dead, people in the round can’t see your messages.
- Don’t accuse randomly. A Sheriff acting on bad info shoots an Innocent and both die.
Scam check
Scam check: MM2 servers are full of “I’ll give you a godly if you…” offers. Contests, giveaways and “follow me for a knife” never pay out. Never share your password, and never trust-trade.
Kiko’s take: My favorite Innocent move is the coin sprint in the first ten seconds, then becoming a ghost (not the Power, the vibe) for the rest of the round. Stay unpredictable. Like a 1999 screensaver bouncing around the corners, just never quite where they expect.
FAQ
How do Innocents win in MM2?
If the Sheriff or Hero shoots the Murderer, the Murderer leaves, or time runs out with Innocents alive.
How many coins can I collect per round?
Up to 40, or 50 with the Elite gamepass.
How do I become the Hero?
Pick up the gun the Sheriff drops when they die. It glows green.
Should I hide or keep moving?
Keep moving for most of the round. Hide late, and never in obvious spots.
Do I lose anything if I die early?
No items, but you miss out on survival XP and coins for that round. Head back to the lobby and spectate. It’s a great way to learn how good players move.
