MM2 Trading Scams: The Classics, the New Ones and How to Spot Them
TL;DR, bestie
- The classics: trust trades, “give first, I’ll send after”, fake value admins, item-name swaps (Chroma vs normal) and “free godly” sites.
- The newer ones: fake “middleman” offers, Discord or DM giveaways, “dupe” offers, bot servers and off-platform payment promises.
- Rules that beat them all:
- in-game trade window only;
- read every item name;
- never go first;
- never share your password.

MM2 has one of the busiest trading scenes on Roblox, which means it also has some of the most creative scammers. Some tricks are older than the game’s Season 1 update. Others pop up every event. Here’s how they work and how to spot them before you click accept.

The classics
Trust trade
“Put your knife in and I’ll put mine in after.” Or: “accept first to show trust.” They accept your item against nothing (or junk), and leave. Defense: if the other side isn’t exactly what you agreed, don’t accept. Friends included.
“I’ll send the rest after”
They promise extra items in a second trade. The first trade happens, and the second never does. Defense: everything goes in one trade, or no trade.
The item swap
They add a valuable item, wait, then swap it for a look-alike: a normal instead of a Chroma, a similarly named Godly, or a lower-value set piece. Defense: after any change, re-read every item name. The countdown restarts for a reason.
Fake value lists and “value admins”
“I’m a Supreme value admin, it’s worth 3×.” Or a screenshot of an edited list. Defense: check MM2Values and Supreme yourself. Real list staff don’t DM you mid-trade.
The newer ones
| Scam | How it goes | Defense |
|---|---|---|
| Fake middleman | “Let my trusted friend hold both items.” The friend is in on it | There’s no official middleman in MM2. Use the trade window |
| Free godly giveaway / bot servers | Ads or bots spam “free knives” links or private servers | Free godlies don’t exist. Many links steal logins |
| “Dupe” offers | “I can dupe your godly, give me one.” Or cheap “duped” items | Duping is against the rules, and it’s always a scam to take your item |
| Off-platform payment | “I’ll pay Robux, PayPal or gift cards after” | Cross-trading breaks the rules, and the payment never comes |
| Fake trade-ban threat | “Your item’s flagged, give it to me to keep it safe” | Nobody can hold your items “safely” |
| Copycat friend | Someone with a near-identical name pretends to be your friend | Check the exact username and profile |
| Discord DMs | “You won our giveaway, log in here” | Never log in through a link from a DM |

Why trading has a level requirement
Since December 2021, trading needs level 10. This was reportedly a measure against duping. It means a brand-new account can’t trade straight away. So if someone’s “alt” is offering amazing deals, be suspicious.
Scam check
Scam check:
- One trade, all items, in the official window.
- Re-read every item name after any change. Watch for Chroma vs normal.
- Never go first, never “trust”, never “send after”.
- Check values yourself, on two lists.
- Never share your password or 2SV code, and don’t log in through links.
- No off-platform deals.
If you get scammed: trades can’t be undone. Report the player in-game, block them, and tell a trusted adult if you’re younger.
Event-season scams
Every Halloween and Christmas event brings new Godlies, and a new wave of scams:
- “Pre-release” items: “I’ll sell you the new event knife before it comes out.” It doesn’t exist yet, so it’s a scam.
- Hype pricing: someone insists a brand-new item is worth way more than both lists say. New items swing a lot, so wait a few days.
- Fake event codes: “redeem this code for the event Godly”. Codes are rare and only come from official channels, and code sites asking you to log in are phishing.
- Battle pass “boosting”: “give me your login and I’ll finish your pass.” Never share your login, for any reason.
Helping kids (and yourself) stay calm
Scams work because of pressure and greed: “quick, accept!” and “this is a huge W”. Teach the pause:
- Pause: wait for the countdown, then read.
- Check: look up values on both lists.
- Ask: “If this is so good, why are they offering it to me?”
Kiko’s take: Every MM2 scam I’ve seen boils down to “trust me” or “don’t look”. So I do the opposite: I trust nobody and I look at everything twice, like I’m checking a Holo Charizard for whitening. Boring? Yes. Scammed? Never.
FAQ
What’s the most common MM2 scam?
Trust trading: being asked to accept your item against nothing “to show trust”.
Can MM2 return scammed items?
Trades can’t be reversed. Report the scammer in-game and block them.
Are MM2 middlemen safe?
There’s no official middleman system. A “middleman” is usually part of the scam.
Can you dupe items in MM2?
Duping is an exploit and against the rules. Anyone offering to dupe your item is trying to steal it.
Is it a scam if someone offers Robux for my knife?
Almost always. Robux can’t go in the MM2 trade window, so you’d have to give first and trust them to pay. That’s cross-trading, it’s against the rules, and the payment rarely arrives.
