Steal An Egg Spectral Mutation: Souls, Shards and That 25% Chance

The Spectral mutation is Steal An Egg’s Halloween mutation. Ride the Phantom Express, catch ghosts with the Ghost Vacuum to earn Souls, and trade them at the Soul Extractor for a Spectral Mutation shard. Use it on an egg for a 25% chance to apply Spectral (about 2.75× income). The current price shown is 500 Souls per shard. Older graphics say 1,000, so check yours. On average, it takes four shards for one success.

Spectral is the reason everyone suddenly wants a train ticket. Here’s how it works, what it costs, and the math on that 25%.
Step 1: get on the Phantom Express
You need a Phantom Express Ticket, which comes from the Halloween Dimension’s quest line:
- Do Echo’s Memories (find the ghost dog’s four lost keepsakes).
- Get the Haunted Rod from the Ghost Fisherman at the Haunted Swamp pier.
- Clear his underwater mine-dodging challenge and open the chest for the ticket.
- Wait at the station. The train arrives about every half-hour (around :00 and :30).

Step 2: catch ghosts for Souls
Once you’re off the train, grab the Ghost Vacuum and start hoovering up spirits. Guides describe several kinds:

Guides disagree on the exact Souls per catch, so I’m not printing numbers. Your Soul counter at the extractor is the truth. What every guide agrees on: go for Vengeful Spirits and the Ghouler, and don’t waste time on Lost Spirits if better ones are around.
Note: monsters in the Graveyard and Haunted Swamp give Candy Corn, not Souls. Souls only come from the ghost area.
Step 3: trade at the Soul Extractor

Step 4: apply it, and do the math
Choose the egg, open its menu, pick Spectral and confirm. Then check whether it landed. Buying the shard doesn’t mean you’ve got the mutation.
What 25% means in practice:

On average, it’s one success per four shards, so budget around 2,000 Souls per Spectral egg. Bad luck streaks happen. A 25% chance doesn’t owe you anything.
I couldn’t confirm whether a failed attempt always uses up the shard. Check your inventory after a miss.
How Spectral compares

That makes Spectral the easiest 2.75× mutation available right now, with a 25% chance compared with Nitro’s 10%.
Which egg should get it?
- Your best-earning egg, always. 2.75× of a big number beats 2.75× of a small one.
- Not an egg you plan to fuse. Fusing mutated pets can lose the mutation on the output.
- Halloween eggs are great targets. Spectral on a Werewolf or Gorillastein is a big jump.
Staying safe while you grind
Event weeks bring a flood of “free pet” and “auto-steal” videos. A few quick reminders:
- Steal An Egg has no codes. Any site or video selling “event codes” is fake.
- Scripts and executors are against Roblox’s rules and can get accounts banned. Many are disguised password stealers.
- Nobody can “give” you an event pet from outside the game. “Send me your login and I’ll transfer it” is a scam every time.
- Grab the free Speed gift (like, favorite and join the group in the Free area) before spending Robux on Speed. It’s a big one-off boost.

Ride every train you can, hunt the big spirits, and stack shards before you start rolling, so one unlucky miss doesn’t make you rage-quit. If your first four all fail, it’s not personal, it’s probability. (My Tamagotchi had better odds of surviving the weekend.)
Scam check
No code, website or “Soul generator” gives you shards. Steal An Egg has no codes. Scripts that “auto-vacuum ghosts” are exploits and can get you banned. If someone offers to “roll Spectral for you” on your account, that’s a password grab.
