Ghost Fish is an Eternal pet (about $1.5B/s base) that you fish, not hatch. You need the Haunted Rod from the Ghost Fisherman: do Echo’s Memories, then talk to him at the Haunted Swamp pier. The rod comes with his sea-mine challenge, the “reel” where you steer around mines for the train ticket. Then cast in the Halloween Dimension water. The Haunted Swamp is the go-to spot. When a Ghost Fish bites, a mini-game starts. No official catch rate has been published.

Ghost Fish went from “cool fish pet” to “essential” the moment Part 2 made it half of the Cursed Monarch recipe. Here’s how to get the rod, where to fish and what to expect.

Step 1: unlock the Haunted Rod
The rod isn’t in any shop, and there’s no code for it.
- Echo’s Memories: find Echo the ghost dog by the witch-hat house and return his four keepsakes (rabbit toy, chewed bone, old collar, old photograph).
- Meet the Ghost Fisherman at the Haunted Swamp pier. He gives you the Haunted Rod.
Step 2: the sea-mine challenge
Straight after, the Ghost Fisherman sets you a test. Stand on the glowing marker, cast into the ripples, and you’re dragged underwater on the line. Steer around the sea mines to reach the chest at the end. That chest has your Phantom Express Ticket.
Tips for the mine run:
- Small movements. Over-steering is how you clip mines.
- Look ahead, not at your line.
- Fail? Just retry. The rod is already yours. The challenge only gates the ticket.

Step 3: where to fish for Ghost Fish
- Haunted Swamp shoreline: the easy, free spot. No ticket needed.
- Anywhere in the Halloween Dimension water: creator guides show you can cast in other water too, including the low water at the bottom of the map. The swamp is just the most convenient.
- Not the Forgotten Town pool: Gus’s hidden pool under Forgotten Town is for the Manor Key (see our Manor Key guide).
Step 4: land the catch
When a Ghost Fish bites, a fishing mini-game starts. It’s the same style as the ticket challenge. Clear it to land the fish. That’s also why auto-fishing can’t fully do it for you.
What else you’ll catch while you’re there: Halloween eggs and Candy Corn. So even dry spells pay something.
How rare is a Ghost Fish?
Honest answer: nobody has published a verified rate. Creators describe it as very rare, and some quote their own estimates. Those aren’t official, and they don’t agree with each other. If you see “Ghost Fish: 3.2%” on a site, it’s a guess dressed up as data.
What I can say:
- There’s no known luck boost for Ghost Fish.
- More casts = more chances. That’s the whole strategy.
Why Ghost Fish matters now
Halloween Part 2 added a two-player fusion upstairs in the Abandoned Manor. It takes two Eternal Ghost Fish and two Divine Voidseer Pumpkins (one of each per player) and makes the Cursed Monarch. The rarity matters: a different fish won’t fill the pedestal. Ghost Fish is the “easy” half of the recipe compared with the Voidseer Pumpkin, so fish up your Ghost Fish while you hunt for a Voidseer.
Staying safe while you grind
Event weeks bring a flood of “free pet” and “auto-steal” videos. A few quick reminders:
- Steal An Egg has no codes. Any site or video selling “event codes” is fake.
- Scripts and executors are against Roblox’s rules and can get accounts banned. Many are disguised password stealers.
- Nobody can “give” you an event pet from outside the game. “Send me your login and I’ll transfer it” is a scam every time.
- Grab the free Speed gift (like, favorite and join the group in the Free area) before spending Robux on Speed. It’s a big one-off boost.

Kiko’s take: Ghost Fish is the most chill grind in the event. Find a quiet bit of swamp, cast, repeat, and enjoy the Candy Corn on the side. Just don’t fuse or trade away your only one until you’ve decided whether you’re going for the Cursed Monarch. It’s worth way more as a fusion piece.
