Eggs in Steal An Egg: Size, Shape, Resets and Limited Eggs
TL;DR, bestie
- Eggs are the core of Steal An Egg. Every pet you own came from one, and each biome has its own set of eggs.
- An egg’s shape and size decide what the pet inside will earn. Its color is cosmetic and doesn’t change income.
- Bigger eggs carry a higher income multiplier, but they’re heavier and slow you down while you run.
- Nests refill about every five minutes. Limited and event eggs never spawn in normal nests. They come from the Store, events or Admin Abuse.

Every run in Steal An Egg ends with the same question: is this egg worth the risk? This page answers the parts the game doesn’t explain well, like what makes one egg better than another, why the shiny-looking one isn’t always the best, and where the eggs you can’t find in any nest actually come from.
Eggs at a glance
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where they spawn | Nests in each biome, guarded by that biome’s sleeping guardian |
| Respawn | About every five minutes, after a short reset |
| What decides income | Egg type (the pet inside), size and later the mutation roll |
| What doesn’t | Egg color |
| Hatching | In your garden pens, including while you’re offline |
| Limited eggs | Store, events and Admin Abuse only |
How it works
Biome eggs
Every biome stocks its own eggs, and they hatch pets that fit that biome’s theme. Early biomes like the Forest have cheap, fast-hatching eggs.
Deeper biomes, which sit behind higher Speed gates, hold eggs for higher rarities. The rarity ladder runs from Common to Divine, with Cosmic, Secret and Eternal near the top. I list the full order in my rarity guide.

Shape beats color
This trips up almost everyone. Eggs of the same type can spawn in different colors, and the color carries over to how the egg and pet look.
It doesn’t touch income. If you’re choosing between two eggs in a nest, look at the shape and size, not the paint job.
Size is a trade-off
Eggs spawn in a range of sizes. A bigger egg hatches a bigger pet, and the pet’s size (shown in kilograms on its card) multiplies its income.
The catch is weight. The heavier the egg, the slower you run while carrying it, so a giant egg from a far biome can be the thing that gets you caught.
Size multipliers also flatten out at the extreme end, so a monster-sized egg isn’t as much better as it looks.
Special spawns on the reset
When the nests refill, a rarer egg sometimes appears, and it can land in any biome, even an easy one. Players usually call these out in chat, so the first few seconds after a reset can get busy.
Limited and event eggs
Some eggs never appear in nests at all. Event eggs (themed eggs tied to a limited-time update) and other limited eggs come from the in-game Store, from events or from Admin Abuse sessions. When an event ends, its eggs usually stop being available, which is why event pets tend to become sought-after later.

Step by step: picking the right egg
- Check your Speed against the biome gate. Then add a buffer for egg weight.
- Scan the nest for shape and size. Ignore color.
- Decide how big you can carry. A medium egg that makes it home beats a huge one you drop.
- Grab on the reset if you’re after a special spawn, and watch chat.
- Pen it right away and leave it hatching. Rarer eggs take longer.
Tips
- If two eggs look identical apart from color, pick whichever one is closer to your route home.
- Event eggs are a “now or never” thing. When one runs, it’s usually worth more attention than a normal biome egg.
- Duplicates aren’t wasted. Three matching pets can be fused into a stronger one.
- The Pet Index rewards you the first time you hatch a new species, so a variety of eggs pays off early.
Common mistakes
- Picking the shiniest-colored egg because it “looks rare.”
- Grabbing a huge egg in a far biome without testing whether you can carry it home.
- Waiting for a limited egg to show up in a nest. It won’t.
- Trusting “egg value” numbers on random sites. There are no official trade values. kikomii value tools are on the way.
My egg rule is simple: shape, size, distance, in that order. Color is just there to tempt you.
And I’ll admit I’ve lost more good eggs to greed than to guardians. The medium egg that actually makes it home is always the right call.
FAQ
Does egg color matter in Steal An Egg?
No. Color changes how the egg and pet look, not how much the pet earns.
Why does a bigger egg slow me down?
Bigger eggs are heavier. The trade-off is that they hatch bigger pets, which earn more.
Where do I get event eggs?
From the Store, from events while they’re running and from Admin Abuse sessions. They don’t spawn in normal nests.
