Bat Dragon in Adopt Me: The 180,000 Candy Legend Explained

TL;DR, bestie

  • The Bat Dragon is a Legendary pet from Adopt Me!’s Halloween 2019 event. It landed in the event’s final week, on 25 October 2019.
  • It cost 180,000 Candy in the Candy Trading Shop, making it the priciest Candy pet of that event. Candy could be earned in-game or bought.
  • The event closed on 1 November 2019, so trading is the only way to get a permanent one now.
  • Neon glows orange; Mega Neon cycles white, magenta, lavender and turquoise.

The Bat Dragon is the pet that made a whole generation of players learn the word “grind.” It’s a little orange-and-brown dragon with bat ears and fangs, and it’s been sitting near the very top of Adopt Me! wish lists since 2019. This page is the reference version: where it came from, how it grows and why people still chase it. If you want trade talk, that lives in a separate post, linked below.

How to get the Bat Dragon

You can’t buy it, hatch it or win it anymore. The Bat Dragon went on sale in the last week of the 2019 Halloween event, next to the Evil Unicorn. The Shadow Dragon and Zombie Buffalo were also in that shop, but the Bat Dragon was the one that cost the most Candy by a long way. When the event ended on 1 November 2019, it left for good.

So today it’s trading or nothing. That means a Trade License, a lot of patience and a healthy suspicion of anyone who seems too eager.

One footnote that confuses people: during an Admin Abuse session on 26 September 2026, players got a temporary Bat Dragon. It wasn’t a permanent pet you could keep or trade, so if someone claims they “got one free last month,” that’s probably what they mean.

What it looks like

The body is light brown with a tan belly. It has two small orange horns, bat-style ears in black, an orange nose and two tiny fangs poking out. The wings are black and red, and the tail ends in a black-and-orange point with orange spikes along the back. Honestly, it’s the cutest thing to ever be described as a “dragon with fangs.”

Ages, Neon and Mega Neon

From Newborn to Full Grown it learns Sit, Lay Down, Joy, Jump, Twirl Around and finally Triple Flip. Like every Legendary, it needs more tasks per age than common pets, so plan for a long raise. My age-up guide has the shortcuts.

Four Full Grown Bat Dragons make a Neon. On the Neon, the wings and tail tip glow deep orange, while the horns, nose and tail spikes glow a lighter orange. Four Luminous Neons make a Mega Neon, where those same spots cycle through white, magenta, lavender and turquoise. That color mix is softer than most Megas, and I think it suits the pet. The full fusing process is in my Neon and Mega Neon guide.

The reskins

Uplift has reused the Bat Dragon shape three times: the Strawberry Shortcake Bat Dragon, the Chocolate Chip Bat Dragon and the Fairy Bat Dragon. They’re separate pets, not variants, so don’t let anyone pass one off as “basically a Bat Dragon” in a trade.

Demand and rarity

Demand is very high and has been for years. Three things hold it there: it’s a retired Legendary, the 180,000 Candy price meant fewer were made in the first place, and every Neon or Mega Neon someone makes removes four normal ones from the game. Megas are the hardest version to find.

I don’t post numeric trade values on wiki pages, because they swing constantly and every value list disagrees. For the deeper trade conversation, read my Bat Dragon value post. kikomii value tools are on the way.

Kiko’s take: The Bat Dragon is the pet I’d pick if someone forced me to choose one retired Legendary to keep forever. It’s iconic without being edgy, and it looks great at every Neon level. My one warning: it’s scam bait. If a trade involves “trust me, go first,” leaving the game to “verify,” or a deal that looks way too generous, walk away. A real Bat Dragon trade happens in the trade window, in one go.

FAQ

Can I still buy the Bat Dragon? No. It was only sold during the Halloween Event 2019 and has been off-sale since 1 November 2019.

How much Candy did the Bat Dragon cost? 180,000 Candy in the Candy Trading Shop.

Is the Strawberry Shortcake Bat Dragon the same pet? No. It’s a separate reskin with its own name and its own demand.

What does the Mega Neon Bat Dragon look like? It glows in the same places as the Neon, but cycles through white, magenta, lavender and turquoise.
