Ranger is the "I'd like to not get hugged by wolves on night 1" class. You spawn with a gun, a light and enough bullets to clear the first kid cave before most lobbies have an axe upgrade.
It was one of the very first classes in the game, added in the Classes Update. It used to cost Robux, and now it's a diamond class.
Ranger at a glance
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Cost | 70 diamonds |
| Starter items | Old Flashlight, Revolver, Revolver Ammo |
| Level 1 perk | Start with 18 ammo |
| Level 2 perk | 10% chance to refund ammo on each shot |
| Level 3 perk | Start with 30 ammo |
| Playstyle | Early-game ranged fighter, kid rescuer |

How to unlock Ranger
- Earn 70 diamonds from runs, badges and chests.
- Open the General Store in the lobby, or tap the Classes button on the left.
- Buy Ranger and equip it before you join a server.
4 random classes go on sale every 24 hours, with discounts from 10% to 20%. At 20% off, Ranger costs 56 diamonds.
The Revolver, in numbers
Ranger lives and dies by the Revolver, so it helps to know exactly what it does.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 25 per body shot |
| Headshot | 37.5 |
| Cylinder | 6 bullets |
| Fire rate | 1 shot every 2 seconds |
| Reload | 5 seconds |
| Other ways to get one | Good Chests, Iron Chests, the Armory, the Pelt Trader's second trade |
Shots to kill
| Enemy | HP | Body shots | Headshots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wolf | 75 | 3 | 2 |
| Alpha Wolf | 125 | 5 | 4 |
Bunnies aren't worth a bullet, so melee them. Bears, Alpha packs and stronghold Cultists have too much health for a Revolver to be efficient.
Every perk explained
Level 1: 18 starting ammo
That's three full reloads before you've opened a single chest. On night 1, that's the difference between running from wolves and farming them for Morsels and Steak.
Level 2: 10% ammo refund
Each shot has a 1 in 10 chance of not using a bullet. Over a full run, that works out to about 10% more ammo.
It's the only Ranger perk that stays useful past the early game, because it keeps working on every Revolver bullet you loot later.
Level 3: 30 starting ammo
Thirty bullets is enough to clear the first two Missing Children caves if your aim is decent. With 2 extra ammo packs from looting, you can push for the Squid Kid too.

Ranger's real job: rescuing kids
Each rescued kid adds 1 to the day counter, and kid caves are guarded. Ranger is the cheapest class that can clear them from day 1.
| Kid | Guards | Headshot ammo needed | Body-shot ammo needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dino Kid (red cave) | 5 Wolves | 10 | 15 |
| Kraken Kid (blue cave) | 4 Alpha Wolves | 16 | 20 |
| Both caves | 9 guards | 26 | 35 |

That math is why aim matters. With headshots, Level 3's 30 bullets clears both caves with a few to spare. Spray body shots and you'll come up short.
The last guard Wolf in the Dino Kid cave drops the Red Key, and the last guard Alpha in the Kraken Kid cave drops the Blue Key. Don't leave without them.
My cave-clear routine
- Get the campfire to Level 2 so the Dino Kid's cave shows up on the map.
- Fight at the cave mouth with your back to open ground, never deep inside.
- Aim for heads and count shots: 2 per Wolf.
- Grab the Red Key, the kid and any loot, then head home before night.
- Save the rest of your ammo for the Alpha cave and reload before you walk in.
Combat tricks that save bullets
- Quick-fire swap: switching to another item and back cancels the Revolver's 2-second cooldown, so you can fire faster.
- Tag, then melee: one shot to pull a Wolf, then finish it with your axe while strafing.
- Finisher shots: use the Revolver on low-HP enemies to save Rifle or Shotgun ammo.
- Light discipline: the Old Flashlight helps you spot eyes at night, but turn your camera often. Alphas sneak up from behind.
Don't stand in a cave or a cabin too long at night. Wolves spawn near players who hang around after dark, and past day 15 Alpha Wolves can come with them.
Ranger through a run
Days 1–3: your peak
- Farm a couple of wolves near camp for Morsels and Steak. 2 headshots each, 1 Steak guaranteed.
- Let a teammate handle the campfire while you scout chests with the Old Flashlight.
- Clear the Dino Kid cave as soon as it's revealed.
Days 4–15: keep the gun loaded
- Push for the Kraken Kid before Alphas start roaming. They only appear in the forest once the campfire hits Level 3.
- Loot Good and Iron Chests for Revolver Ammo. Your 10% refund makes every pack stretch.
- Start carrying a backup melee weapon. You'll need it more every night.
Day 15 and later: support mode
- Use the Revolver as a finisher and a pull tool, not your main damage.
- Swap to the Rifle or Tactical Shotgun as soon as you find one. Line up shots with the Revolver first.
- Stay near the group at night. A lone Ranger with an empty cylinder is a snack.
How to level Ranger fast
| Level | Rescue children | Kill enemies |
|---|---|---|
| Level 2 | 10 | 200 |
| Level 3 | 35 | 200 |
The fastest loop is simple: start a run, rescue the Dino Kid, reset and repeat. Kills come naturally while you do it, because every trip clears 5 guard Wolves.
Robux skips exist too: 250 Robux for Level 2 and 400 Robux for Level 3.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Never defenseless on night 1
- Clears the first 2 kid caves easily
- Old Flashlight start, like Camper
- Ammo refund keeps working all run
Cons
- Falls off fast after the early game
- Level 2 perk is pure luck
- Alien costs only 30 more diamonds
- Only 3 small perks for 70 diamonds
Ranger vs other early-game classes
| Class | Cost | Starts with | Why pick it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranger | 70 | Revolver, ammo, Old Flashlight | Cheap early gun for kid rescues |
| Alien | 100 | Raygun | Rechargeable gun, no ammo hunting, great night vision |
| Hunter | 40 | 2 Bear Traps | Cheapest pick, more food and pelts |
| Lumberjack | 70 | Good Axe | Same price, bonus logs all run |
| Berserker | 100 | Medkit | Auto-revive and huge low-HP damage |

Honest verdict: if you can wait for 100 diamonds, Alien does the "gun from minute one" job better because it never runs dry. Ranger wins if you want a gun right now and plan to hit headshots.
Where Ranger fits in a squad
- With a Blacksmith: they build base while you bring kids home. Classic split.
- With a Hunter: you shoot, their traps catch whatever slips past, and pelts stack up for the Pelt Trader.
- With a Berserker: you kite and tag from range while they dive in.
Call out your ammo count often. If you're down to one cylinder, the squad should know before the Alpha cave.
Common mistakes
- Shooting bunnies. Melee them and save the bullets.
- Body-shotting Alphas, then running out halfway through the blue cave.
- Forgetting the quick-swap trick and eating hits during the cooldown.
- Fighting inside a cave where wolves can surround you.
- Expecting Ranger to carry day 50+. That's not its job.
Ranger is a great "I'm new and I want a gun" class, and the Dino Kid reset loop makes it easy to level. Just don't buy it expecting a late-game monster. For pure value, I'd save the extra 30 diamonds for Alien.
