Trick or Treater Class in 99 Nights in the Forest: Perks, Cost and Is It Worth It?
TL;DR, bestie
The Trick or Treater is 99 Nights in the Forest’s original Halloween class from 2025. It cost 30 Candy and started with no items.
Its perks were 4 Candy per house, then better Treat odds, then more Halloween Candles. In Halloween 2026 (Trick or Treat Part 1), Happy’s 30-Candy class slot goes to the new Fancy Dressed class instead, and Trick or Treater isn’t in the confirmed 2026 shop list.
Check your class menu before saving Candy for it. If it’s not there, Fancy Dressed is the class built for this year’s costume rules.

Search for “Trick or Treater class” right now and you’ll find a muddle of last year’s guides and this year’s shop. Both classes cost 30 Candy, both are about farming Candy, and they are not the same class. Here’s what the Trick or Treater did, whether you can get it in 2026, and what to buy instead.

Trick or Treater at a glance
| Trick or Treater (Halloween 2025) | |
|---|---|
| Cost | 30 Candy (the first class you could buy without Diamonds) |
| Starting items | None |
| Role | Candy farming, not combat |
| When usable | Halloween season only |
Trick or Treater perks and levels
| Level | Perk | To unlock |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 Candy per house you visit | Buy the class |
| 2 | Slightly higher chance of a Treat instead of a Trick | Trick-or-treat at 50 houses |
| 3 | Higher drop and find rate for Halloween Candles | Trick-or-treat at 100 houses |
These are the 2025 numbers, from the community wiki. In 2025, a house paid 3 Candy even when it tricked you, so the class’s 4 per house was a 33% boost. Simple and effective, as long as you could survive the walk.
Why the Trick or Treater worked in 2025
- Every house paid, Treat or Trick, so a flat +1 really added up.
- Better Treat odds meant better loot. 2025 Treats included fuel canisters, food, and even a Raygun or Laser Cannon.
- More Candles meant more houses. Each house needs its own Candle to light up, so Candles were the real bottleneck.
Where it fell short
- No starter items at all. In solo play you’re very exposed.
- Pure RNG for Treats.
- No combat perks. It just made Candy, and the Deer doesn’t care how festive you look.
Is the Trick or Treater back in 2026?
As of 21 October 2026, it isn’t on the confirmed list. The Trick or Treat Part 1 shop (from 17 October) lists Fancy Dressed Clothes at 30 Candy, which unlocks the new Fancy Dressed class. The Trick or Treater isn’t one of the ten confirmed rewards.
That doesn’t prove it’s gone for good. Some players may still own it from 2025, and seasonal classes can come back.
But I can’t confirm it’s buyable this year. Open your class selection and look for the name before spending Candy on it. If it does show up, read the live perk text.
2025 numbers like “4 Candy per house” and the 50/100-house goals may not fit 2026’s rules.
2026 rules change the math
This year’s trick-or-treating runs on costumes (my costume guide has every set):
| 2025 | 2026 (Part 1) | |
|---|---|---|
| What you need | A Halloween Candle per house | A Candle per house and costume pieces |
| Base payout | 3 Candy even on a Trick | 1 per costume piece, 8 for a full set |
| No costume | (n/a) | Guaranteed Trick, no Candy |
| Costumes | (n/a) | Consumed every knock |
A flat “4 Candy per house” made sense when every door paid 3. In 2026, payouts depend on what you’re wearing, so the class that helps you find costume pieces is the one that actually matters.

Trick or Treater vs Fancy Dressed
| Trick or Treater (2025) | Fancy Dressed (2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | 30 Candy | 30 Candy (“Fancy Dressed Clothes”) |
| First perk | 4 Candy per house | More costume-piece drops |
| Second perk | Better Treat odds | Better Treat odds |
| Third perk | More Candles | Extra Candy per knock |
| Leveling | 50 / 100 houses | Reportedly 50 Candy from trick-or-treating plus 40 stored costume pieces |
| In the 2026 shop? | Not confirmed | Yes |
Is the Trick or Treater worth it?
- If it’s in your class menu: it’s cheap at 30 Candy and fine for farming. Check that its perks have been updated for costumes first.
- If it isn’t (most likely): buy Fancy Dressed. It’s the same price and built for 2026’s costume system, and four full-set knocks pay for it.
- If you mostly die before night 10: neither. Stick with a combat or support class (my Medic class guide is a good start) and farm Candy when you’re more confident.
I have a soft spot for the Trick or Treater. A class whose whole personality is “I’m here for the lollies” is so relatable.
But don’t save Candy for a class you can’t actually see in your menu. If Fancy Dressed is the one on offer, buy that and enjoy the costumes.
