TL;DR, bestie
- Brookhaven has 81 jobs, and all but one are free. The exception is the VIP job, which needs the VIP pass.
- You pick a job from the Avatar / Character Bio menu, or by clicking a job icon inside some stores.
- Once you have a job, a Job menu appears under Home Cams with Take a Break, End Break and Quit. A job icon also floats above your head.
- Jobs are pure roleplay. There’s no pay, no XP and no progression. They just tell everyone who you’re playing.

Jobs in Brookhaven are the fastest way to say “this is my character” without typing a paragraph. Pick Police and everyone knows you’re the cop. Pick Babysitter and suddenly three kids are following you around. This page covers how jobs work, the full category breakdown and how to use them well in roleplay.

How it works
Picking a job
Open the Avatar menu, also called Character Bio, and tap the Jobs icon. Choose one and it’s instantly yours. Some stores around town have their own job icon too. Click it inside the shop and you’re hired on the spot. No interview, no résumé. Brookhaven is a dream job market.
The Job menu
After you’ve got a job, a new Job button appears under Home Cams:
- Take a Break pauses the job but keeps it assigned.
- End Break puts you back on the clock.
- Quit removes the job completely. You’ll have to pick it again to get it back.
The icon above your head
Your job shows as an icon over your character. It’s how other players know who to call when something’s on fire, so in a big roleplay, the right job really helps.
Categories
| Category | What it’s for | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Service | Public safety and help | Police, Hospital, Fire House, S.W.A.T, Sheriff, Detective, Mayor, Lawyer, Judge |
| Family | Home and school roleplay | At home mom, At home dad, Babysitter, Student, Day Care, Maid |

There’s also a fun mix of oddballs, like Criminal, Spy, Paranormal Hunter, Race Car Driver and Animal Rescue.

Step by step: starting a roleplay with a job
- Decide on the scene, like hospital, school, police chase or café.
- Open Character Bio and pick the matching job.
- Head to the right building, such as the hospital, school or Starbrooks.
- Grab any vehicle or prop that fits. Police and fire jobs pair well with emergency vehicles.
- Use Take a Break when you step out of character, so people know you’re not on duty.
- Quit when the scene is over so your icon doesn’t confuse the next group.
Tips
- Match the job to the building. A Doctor icon in the hospital pulls in patients fast.
- Use Take a Break during long scenes instead of quitting. It’s less confusing for everyone.
- For school roleplay, the Teacher, Principal and Student jobs cover most of the cast. My school roleplay guide has scene ideas.
- For family roleplay, the At home parent and Babysitter jobs are your best friends. See family roleplay.
Common mistakes
- Thinking jobs pay Robux or unlock items. They don’t. They’re roleplay labels.
- Leaving a job on after a scene. People will keep treating you as the cop.
- Buying VIP just for the VIP job. VIP has other perks, so decide based on those.
- Picking Criminal in a busy server and then being shocked when the police show up.
Kiko’s take: My favorite underrated job is Paranormal Hunter. It’s perfect for a spooky house night, and nobody else picks it. Brookhaven jobs being free is honestly one of the nicest things about the game. You never have to pay to join somebody’s story.
