Giraffe in Adopt Me: The First Limited Egg Legendary
TL;DR, bestie
- The Giraffe is a Legendary pet from the Safari Egg, which arrived on 5 July 2019. It was the first Legendary in a limited egg.
- The Safari Egg cost 750 Bucks from the Gumball Machine in the Nursery, and the Giraffe had about a 3% hatch chance.
- The Jungle Egg replaced the Safari Egg on 31 August 2019. Now you can only trade for a Giraffe or hatch an old Safari Egg someone kept.
- Its Neon glows pale yellow. The Mega Neon cycles red, white, blue, purple, pink and yellow.

Before Adopt Me! had dragons and unicorns everywhere, there was the Giraffe. It’s tall, a little goofy, and was the very first Legendary you could only get from a limited egg. That “first of its kind” thing is a big part of why it still matters.

How to get the Giraffe
During summer 2019, you bought a Safari Egg from the Gumball Machine in the Nursery for 750 Bucks, hatched it and hoped. The Giraffe sat at the top of the egg’s loot with about a 3% chance. The other Safari pets were the Meerkat, Wild Boar, Elephant, Hyena, Flamingo and Lion.
The Safari Egg was swapped for the Jungle Egg on 31 August 2019. After that, two routes were left:
- Trade for one. This is how almost everyone gets one now.
- Hatch an unhatched Safari Egg. Some players stockpiled eggs and still have them. Hatching one still gives the normal Safari odds, so it’s a gamble, not a shortcut.
If someone offers you a Safari Egg “guaranteed to be a Giraffe,” that’s not a thing. Eggs don’t know what’s inside them until you hatch them.

What it looks like
Classic giraffe. Yellow with orange-brown spots, a long neck, little ossicones on top and darker hooves. The Safari update art shows it towering over the Nursery, which is pretty accurate. When you ride it, it’s the tallest seat in the server.

Ages, Neon and Mega Neon
Tricks arrive in this order: Sit, Lay Down, Bounce, Roll Over, Backflip and Dance at Full Grown. A Giraffe doing a Backflip is something everyone should see at least once.
On a Neon Giraffe, the spots, hooves and inner ears glow a pale yellow. It’s subtle in daylight and much brighter at night. The Mega Neon cycles red, white, blue, purple, pink and yellow on those same spots, which makes it one of the more colorful Megas in the older pet lineup. Full fusing steps are in my Neon and Mega Neon guide.

Demand and rarity
The Giraffe is a retired egg Legendary with a lot of history behind it. Demand is steady and high. It’s not quite at the Bat Dragon or Frost Dragon level, but it’s well above the Legendaries you can still hatch today. Because so many were hatched across two months, normal Giraffes show up in trades more often than event pets do. Neons and Megas are much harder to find.
I don’t give number values on wiki pages. Values move, and lists disagree with each other. kikomii value tools are on the way. Until then, my trading guide covers how to judge a fair offer.
Kiko’s take: I have a soft spot for the Giraffe because it’s a pet from the era when one egg could make the whole game feel new. It’s not the flashiest Legendary, but a Mega Neon Giraffe walking past in its color cycle still turns heads. If you’re collecting “firsts,” this is the one to start with.
