Crafting in 99 Nights in the Forest: Every Bench Tier and What to Build First
TL;DR, bestie
- Crafting in 99 Nights in the Forest happens at the Crafting Bench in camp. It has three tiers, and each upgrade unlocks better blueprints.
- You pay with Wood and Scrap. Logs give Wood, and junk like broken fans goes into the Grinder to become Scrap.
- Tier 1 has the Map, Supply Crate, Old Bed, Bunny Trap and the Tier 2 upgrade. Tier 2 adds the Sun Dial, Compass, Farm Plot, Bear Trap, walls and storage. Tier 3 adds the Crock Pot, Radar, Boost Pad, Biofuel Processor and Torches.
- A few special blueprints come from tablets, like the Volcanic Bear Trap and the Bee Box.

Crafting is how a sad little campfire turns into a real base. Everything from the map you check every 30 seconds to the walls that keep Cultists out comes from the Crafting Bench. This page covers how the bench works, what each tier unlocks and the order I’d craft things in.
Crafting at a glance
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where | Crafting Bench, in camp from the start |
| Tiers | 1, 2 and 3. You craft each upgrade from the bench itself |
| Materials | Wood (from logs) and Scrap (from the Grinder) |
| Scrap icons | 1 bolt = 1 Scrap, 2 = 3, 3 = 5, 4 = 8 |
| Key early craft | The Map (3 Wood) |
| Key mid craft | Farm Plot |
| Key late craft | Crock Pot |
How it works
Wood and Scrap
Chop trees to get logs for Wood. For Scrap, carry junk items back to camp and drop them in the Grinder. Each item shows bolt icons to tell you roughly how much Scrap it’s worth. One bolt is 1 Scrap, two bolts are 3, three bolts are 5 and four bolts are 8. Big junk is worth the trip.
Tier 1
The bench starts at Tier 1 in every world.
| Blueprint | Cost | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Map | 3 Wood | Shows explored areas, key spots and teammates |
| Supply Crate | 3 Wood | Lets you take out Flames, decorations and toys |
| Old Bed | 20 Wood | Day booster (+1 day) |
| Bunny Trap | 5 Wood | Catches Bunnies for food. Bait it with crops. Max 10 |
| Crafting Bench 2 | 5 Wood, 1 Scrap | Unlocks Tier 2 |

Tier 2
This is where camp starts to feel safe. You get the Sun Dial (shows time left in the day or night), the Regular Bed (another day booster), the Compass (points toward the Fairy and the missing children), the Farm Plot (grows crops every other day), Wood Rain Storage, Shelves, Log Walls, the Log Gate and Bear Traps (100 damage, max 8). Tier 2 also unlocks the Tier 3 bench upgrade.
Tier 3
The late-game toolbox: the Crock Pot (turns three foods into Stew), the Radar (reveals undiscovered places), the Boost Pad (a short speed boost), the Biofuel Processor (turns organic items into Biofuel) and Torches (extend the campfire’s safe radius, max 6, and only work while the fire is lit).
Tablets
Some blueprints come from tablets instead of the bench tree. The Volcanic Bear Trap does twice a normal Bear Trap’s damage and sets enemies on fire. You get it by beating the Cultist King in the Volcanic Biome. The Bee Box tablet is sold by the Beekeeper for 360 Honey.

Step by step: a solid crafting order
- Map first. It’s 3 Wood and you’ll use it constantly.
- Upgrade to Tier 2 as soon as you have 5 Wood and 1 Scrap.
- Compass, so you can find the missing children faster.
- Farm Plots, a few early, to stop food from being a daily problem.
- Sun Dial, so night never catches you off guard.
- Bear Traps at the paths into camp.
- Tier 3, then a Crock Pot and a couple of Torches.
- Walls and a gate once you’ve got wood to spare.
Tips
- Grind junk in batches. Carry a stack of items back to camp in one trip instead of running back for each one.
- Torches are a cheap way to make your safe zone bigger without spending fuel.
- Farm Plots plus a Crock Pot basically solve food. My food guide explains the combo.
- Exact costs can shift with updates, so the bench itself is always the final word.
Common mistakes
- Burning every log in the fire and having none left for crafting.
- Skipping the Map. Getting lost costs far more than 3 Wood.
- Spamming Bear Traps where teammates walk. They can hurt players too.
- Building walls before food and traps. Walls look nice, but they won’t feed you.
Kiko’s take: The Tier 2 upgrade is the moment a run really starts for me. Compass, Farm Plots and Sun Dial change the whole pace of the game. If my team is arguing about what to craft, I just say “Map, bench, Compass, farms” and walk off to chop trees. It works every time.
FAQ
How do I get Scrap in 99 Nights? Put junk items in the Grinder at camp. The bolt icons show how much Scrap each item gives.
What should I craft first? The Map, then the Tier 2 bench upgrade.
What does the Crock Pot need? A Tier 3 Crafting Bench. It turns any three foods into Stew, though Berries, Strawberries and Chilies can’t go in.
